Sydney is a powerful business theme that provides a fast way for companies or freelancers to create an awesome online presence. Sydney brings plenty of customization possibilities like access to all Google Fonts, full color control, layout control, logo upload, full screen slider, header image, sticky navigation and much more. Also, Sydney provides all the construction blocks you need to rapidly create an engaging front page.

Quick start guide

This is what you need to do in order to use Sydney at its full capacity:

– install Types and the Page Builder plugins (they show up as recommended when you activate the theme);

– import the settings file for Types (this will create custom post types for services, employees, testimonials, clients and projects). Types > Import/Export. See the video below.

– if you need a quick start, you can import the demo content from our demo site. Go to your admin area then Tools > Import > WordPress and select the file you just downloaded. If you import the demo content you don’t need to create front and blog pages – they are created for you. The next step for you is to go to Appearance > Customize > Static Front Page. Change ‘Front page displays’ to ‘A static page’ and select My front page for Front age and My blog page for Posts page. Hit ‘Save and Publish’. Now your home page should be looking pretty similar to our demo! Next thing to do: download and install the portfolio plugin. Check your home page again and now our demo projects should be displaying.

Creating projects

You can create projects from your admin area (right next to services, employees). To display them you need to download and install this plugin. This plugin creates a shortcode that you can use to display a filterable masonry portfolio.

The shortcode:

[sydney-masonry posts="8" show_all_text="See all" post_type="projects" filter="yes" include=""]

Available attributes

posts="8" > Number of posts to display;

show_all_text="See all" -> Text displayed for the filter button that shows all posts;

post_type="projects" -> Custom post type to show posts from. You can also add post to display regular posts. If you use the shortcode with the Sydney Projects custom post type than you can also make use of the custom URLs feature that the projects provide.

filter="yes" -> Filter display. yes shows the filter, any other value hides it.

include="" -> Categories slugs to display in the layout and from which the filter will be built. Example: include="landscapes,people,cars"

Please note: your posts need featured images in order to be displayed in the masonry layout. Only one instance of the shortcode should be used per page.
